Hi everyone! Having an issue with the new Parametric system in 5.8.
I have several assets functioning correctly and resizing properly through the parametric pipeline. I’m using route C in the documentation for parametric clothing - Custom sim mesh + render mesh as cloth assets then outfit assets.
Both the cloth assets and outfit assets show the cloth simulation working correctly in the viewport as intended.
When applied to Metahuman via character creator and creating a warddrobe asset - the item converts back to static.
Wondering if this is a limitation of the parametric system itself or if there’s something I’m missing.
Thanks!
One thing I’d check is whether the Wardrobe Asset generation is preserving the cloth-related data from the Outfit Asset. Since the cloth simulation works correctly in both the Cloth Asset and Outfit Asset previews, it sounds like the issue may be happening during the conversion to the Parametric Wardrobe Asset rather than in the cloth setup itself.
I’d also verify that the generated Wardrobe Asset is still referencing the correct simulation mesh and that cloth simulation is enabled after it’s assigned to the MetaHuman. Since 5.8 introduced the new parametric workflow, it could also be a current limitation or bug.
Have you tried testing the same Outfit Asset on a regular Skeletal Mesh (outside the MetaHuman Character Creator) to confirm whether the simulation only disappears after creating the Wardrobe Asset? That would help narrow down whether it’s a wardrobe conversion issue or a cloth asset issue.
