Issue: I am trying to learn MetaHuman but my UE application crashes immediately upon opening MetaHuman Identity. MetaHuman Identity crashes upon opening with DX12. MetaHuman Identity runs with DX11 but the auto features are unavailable. I really want to learn with DX12 auto tracking.
Crash message:

Also wondering if you found a solution. I have a 6600 XT, and it seems like a lot of people with this specific issue (opening MetaHuman Identity crashes with this exact error) have hardware in that generation. When the engine crashes, it seems to be when trying to load MetaHuman Identity’s trackers, and the error logs when the engine crashes in a debugger point to this being during initialization of DirectML using onnx-directml.
FYI to all future finders of this - it’s the hair on the meta human. We had this issue in our 5.6.1 project as of 17DEC25 and disabled our eye brows and eye lashes and for now it’s fine. We have face fuzz and hair, but neither of those seem to crash. I have an AMD GPU, and my buddy has an Nvidia GPU, they don’t crash, but AMD does when hair is rendering.
The moment you view the character at any point, the eye lashes/brows are rendering individual strands and that’s a DX12 exclusive, and the AMD GPU pipeline just is hating that for us. Try a combo of yours if possible, and you’ll find a work around eventually.
You’ll find me posting this in a couple of places to bring things to the front and give notice. There’s many posts about this without ever realizing that the meta human groom tech is the issue with AMD GPU pipeline, and nothing else. Good luck!
