Using Iphone livelink footage and the head movement has been working fine. Updated UE 5.4 to 5.5 and it still worked. But metahumans head stop moving if they are also updated from 5.4 to 5.5. The exported animation still has head movement if opened in editor if it is targeted to “face_archetype_skeleton”. If the animation is targeted to metahuman in export, even in editor the animation has no head movement but the face works fine. Adding newly created up to date Metahumans also has no head movement.
A bad fix, unnecessarily complicated but it works.
export the animation to “archetype_skeletal_mesh”
Drag it into the scene
Add it in sequencer
Add the archetype_skeletal_mesh animation to the archetype_skeletal_mesh. Yes, adding animation to what is already supposed to be the animation…
Bake it.
Add the baked animation to your metahumans face and it should now have head and neck movement.
Does not work on my end. I export the animation to archetype _skeletal_mesh, then I drag it into the current scene, add the head to the sequencer and apply the animation to it. I can see everything working.
Now I bake the animation out to a new animation and apply it to my metahuman (which is using a simple idle body animation). The Lips are moving, but the Head / Neck motion is missing. Did I miss a step?
