MetaHuman for Commercial use

Hello, I have a question for the experts. We are developing a fiction format that features MetaHuman characters that we create. Is it permissible to sell this product to a platform or have it used commercially, such as for sponsorship? Or is the MetaHuman Creator technology only intended for non-commercial use? Should we contact Epic Games for guidance on this matter?

Hey there @AbTantan! Welcome to the community! So to preface this, I’m not a lawyer, but from my understanding of the Engine and Content EULA’s, as long as you are using the Metahumans in an Unreal engine product (games, renders, archvis, story generators, etc.), you’re all good. If you are selling the assets themselves, or using them in another engine/3D program, that is against the licensing terms. The term “Fiction format” is a bit vague here, are we talking an experience created in Unreal?

I highly recommend reviewing the Content and Engine EULAs for the full context and to verify your project meets the criteria here:

Hi there,

Thank you so much for your time answering me, i highly appreciate it .

No it’s not an experience, it’s a a fiction part where an our Metahuman is delivering a dialogue in episodes or sometimes explaining something to people.

This i didn’t find it. and as you said it’s a little vague i couldn’t find it written specifically.

Thank you so much in advance

By “Fiction part” do you mean like a video/series? Would your metahuman be rendered using Unreal? If so, you’d be covered under video/recorded media in that case and all good. There’s no effective difference in the end medium besides games vs. un-interactive media (with a couple of caveats) as long as it’s built in/rendered out of Unreal.
