MetaHuman Face Texture Overrides get removed After Downloading Texture Sources (UE 5.7.2)

Hi,
I’m running into an issue with MetaHuman in Unreal Engine 5.7.2 and I’m not sure if this is a new bug or expected behavior.

When I apply my custom texture overrides to a MetaHuman face and then try to Assemble Character (because I want to export the character), Unreal requires me to download the Texture Sources.

However, once I download the Texture Sources, my custom overridden textures get removed/reset.

This makes it impossible for me to assemble and export the character with my custom face textures applied.

Is this a known issue in UE 5.7.2, or am I missing a correct workflow or setting to preserve the overrides?
Any advice or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Here’s a workaround: Disabling virtual textures.

  1. Navigate to Project Settings.

  2. Search for “Virtual Textures”.

  3. Scroll down and look for Rendering: Use Virtual Textures option. It should be checked.

  4. Disable “Use Virtual Textures”.

  5. You may need to restart. Restart the editor and try re-applying your textures.

You can Disable Enable virtual texture support under Virtual Textures as well and that has worked for me:
