Yet Void knows exactly HOW I’d transfer them into a UE4 project. I could not find away to download them otherwise. Somehow I swore there was a way to do so in the past during the prime time of UE4 (and when I still was once a fan/dev who respected Epic Games).
Anyways, as I stated via editing my previous post, I stopped caring about retrieving them and decided to delete them all instead. They were initially meant for a commercial game using UE4. The original goal I had made them for had eventually evaporated the time I left the gaming industry (in 2023) and all of the ‘career’ aspects it entailed. I did want to try them for a hobby project I wanted to make about a short life sim experiment, but then I decided I’d be better off just going for a cartoon art aesthetic instead (meaning cartoon characters shall take their place).
So, if I’m understanding correctly, after the discontinuation, the only way to make new metahumans will be in 5.6+, meaning if you have a project in an earlier version you are limited to pre-existing metahumans from before the discontinuation?
I must be stupid but even in UE 5.6+ I can’t figure out how to open MH creator. The option doesn’t show up anymore since I downloaded the metahuman core data a couple of days ago!
For that, you first need to enable the plugin in your project. They are called Metahuman Creator and Metahuman Core Tech respectively. Restart as usual. Then you can create a Metahuman Character in your Project. When launching for the first time in your project, you will be prompted to activate missing plugins and settings.( Once again restart as usual)
I mean… Isn’t it too early to leave behind the early versions of UE5? I didn’t see this warning and now I cannot create Metahuman anymore (the project is 5.0). I would understand if you move to UE6 and want to delete the legacy versions, but UE5.0 and UE5.1 are not that old…
I’m sorry but there’s no sense to do this. Just let us create new Metahumans and download them until UE6 or something.
Unable to download Metahuman Core extension for UE 5.7. It stucks. Meanwhile tested downloading any game on my game library, it works. The problem is Unreal Engine.
MetaHuman content is not installed, the migration cannot proceed. Please download the required content and re-run the migration.what should I do?that Metahuman Plugin is 5-5.5,I do not know what is not installed
is there any chance, that the legacy clothing will be made compatible with 5.6 as well? Really odd, that they would be locked to 5.7+, when they should be compatible with 5.6
Oh and it would be great, if at least the default Metahumans would be made available through fab for UE4.27 and UE5.0-5.5. That way, people can still use Metahumans in older versions, long after the support for the Web Application ended.
There is a Legitimate reason for people still using older versions of Unreal Engine, one of them being a project far enough in development, that migrating it to a newer version isn’t feasible.
Oh and one more question regarding the Metahuman Plugin for 5.0 to 5.5 and Metahuman Identity - will the plugin still be available, and if so how would the Metahuman identity conforming behave? The way I understood it, you can’t download and import your metahumans through bridge after the grace period ended, so you couldn’t download your assembled metahuman anymore.

The legacy clothing is only going to be available for 5.7+.

FAB does not support pre 5.6 MetaHumans. If you need preset MetaHumans from the previous versions you can download them from Bridge before the shut down.

We understand there are teams using older versions of engine for projects, this guided our decision to have the relatively long runway for users to author and download their MetaHumans before the decommissioning.

If you take a look at the last FAQ on the original post it explains what will happen with the MetaHuman Plugin features. The MetaHuman plugin will still be available for download.
