This is the best solution! I hope this bug will be fixed soon by Epic Games developers in the next release.
Changing my editor language doesn´t help in my project! It is still black! Has anyone a solution for me?
I found an alternative solution that seems to work in my case. Temporary disable “Substrate” materials in your project settings. Relaunch and create your metahuman from Metahuman Creator. It should fix the textures appearing black. After you’ve completed the Assemble, you can turn back on Substrate and the materials will still appear fixed.
Why is my Metahuman completely black in UE 5.6?
- At the time of writing, there is a bug in the Metahuman editor in UE 5.6. If you have a language different from English in the editor during assembly, the character may turn black, and the bug may also be related to the enabled Metahuman runtime plugin. To fix the error with black textures, you need to turn off the Metahuman plugin. runtime, and switch the editor to English, then rebuild the character (the old one must be deleted.)

That works !
OMG! I had the exact same problem — tried everything, nothing worked! I finally followed your suggestion and changed the editor language… and now it works!!! Thank you so much, I was completely stuck

For me the issue was having Substrate enabled when creating the Assembled Metahuman. I had to delete the Metahumans folder in the project folder (with windows explorer), turn off Substrate, restart Unreal, then re-rig, redownload textures, and assemble again and it worked as it should with the MH BP.
Same problem with Substrate on. The editor language is already English. For now turning Substrate off and re-assemble the Metahuman resolve the issue. Hope it gets fixed in the hotfix.
