Hey, since the release of the new metahumans and the new system to import them in maya i am having issues transferring facial animations created with live link from unreal engine to maya metahumans. I was using this plugin : GitHub - swnolan/metahuman_facial_transfer: Extracts/Transfers Metahuman Facial from exported FBX onto Maya face control board which was very effective before but now i can’t figure out how to transfer my facial animations created with livelink to my maya metahumans. did someone manage to do it ? do you have any idea if it will come later to the new maya plugin for metahuman ? or is there anything to change in the script so it works with new metahumans ? i tried using chatgpt to change the code but i didn’t manage to alter the code to make it work with metahumans 5.6.

hey ! thanks for your answer. how did you manage to apply the fbx facial animation with the facial transfer plugin ? when i try it it doesn’t work (you can see the image this is what happens when i import). it only detects the body dna…. and then error occurs when i hit “import FBX animation sequence file”.
Would be glad to have you workaround. i am using maya 2023 and the last version of the metahuman facial transfer.
That script from gumroad isn’t working for me after the new update. One of us has to find a way!
To transfer MetaHuman 5.6 facial animations from Unreal to Maya, export the animation as Alembic (.abc) or FBX from Unreal, then import it into Maya using the same skeleton or blend shape setup to retain facial motion.
thanks !! but it is not possible to export as alembic from unreal without a third party solution which i prefer not to pay… if you have any solution to export alembic from unreal i would be glad to see that but i searched and did not find any free plugin to do that

Okay my bad, i tried again, reinstalled maya 2023, the last metahuman for maya plugin, re assembled my metahuman with the character assembler and used the script (which still detects body.dna) but when i import an FBX animation sequence file it applies my facial control keyframes as it was doing with the previous metahuman versions. so everything is working now, i dont know from what the problem was coming. maybe the new version of the character assembler changed something idk.
