MetaHuman 5.6.0 Face and head textures are not loaded, only bodies

They are in the photo presets, but not when selected.

I download 2k/4k textures, but the situation does not change.

After 3+ years of asking questions here, has at least 1 person helped me? It’s like there’s no one on the forum, there are never even replies in the thread from people

I found a solution to the problem, it is not obvious - it is not clear why this was not fixed by default in the template project

It’s ironic, you solved the issue but did not post your solution. Which is why these forums are borderline useless

yo man Im prolly not the response you were expecting, but I was facing the same issues as well, when I updated a project which was previously UE 5.5 to 5.6. I was just gonna ask if your facing the same issue due to this? The only thing I have managed to do to work around it was just to use a new UE5.6 project, make the characters in there and then just export the file into the project with the issue, I haven’t tried animating it but it seems to fix the issue with the grey face!

In any case, you can’t make a build with metahumans on version 5.6.0.

As of 7/5/2025 UE 5.6 this is super f Confusing: First you have to be logged into Epic and Quixel bridge. Add Quixel bridge to your Unreal version in Epic Launcher. THEN in Project, in plugins enable, Quixel bridge (just “BRIDGE”) in the plugins And all METAHUMANS plugins, besides the depreciated one. Restart. After that you will get more options in: Project Settings, search for “streaming” enable all streaming boxes THEN search “Chunk” Enable Generate Chunks. After all this restart then pop up boxes say a list of things needed to be enabled, click enable all and THEN RESTART AGAIN. Finally my face had skin color. Looks of things this made my project file HUGE. I will probably make test project try to make just one Meta human and migrate. Haven’t got that far yet. Been at it for 8 to 10 hours

So you dont want to improve the forums by leading by example, you just want to be an advocate for not helping. Seems you either:
A: Dont really have a solution and are just looking for attention
B: Have and answer. but dont really care about the forums either, so your excuse is actually hypocritical.
If I were a betting man, I suspect its A.

For others. Im on 5.5 atm and have found the most consistent success Ive had (when I see this problem)

  1. Download Texture Source (I usually do 2K)
  2. Create Joints Only Rig - this is necessary for the Assemble.
  3. Run the Assemble - I select UE Optimized and choose Medium Level.
    Then.. if things went well. I often save and restart. This seems to resolve any preview / render issues.
    Hope that helps.. now.. if I can get the default clothes working.. thatd be nice.
