I am trying to work out if the MEta XR plugin can be installed in UE 5.3? I tried and was told that it was only built for 5.2, however I was watching a YouTube vid yesterday (I can’t find the one I was watching now ) and the guy was using 5.3 with the Meta Xr plugin.
though maybe you can make it work with openXR on the mainstream engine but i havent tried.
probably it will lack certain experimental features and optimizations.
also the forked oculus have some settings pre-emptively disabled that do not work with the device, which will save you pain of accidentally breaking your project.
actually for version 5.3 in precise they don´t have a branch just yet. is to be assumed they are behind official release in time.
@SpoonierPoppy I have JUST gone through setting up UE 5.3 so that I can (hobby) develop for Quest 2. I’ve hit exactly the same issue as you with Meta XR version. Do you (or anyone) know how long it typically takes Meta to catch up to current UE version?
I prefer to move to UE 5.3 now, I don’t mind putting this aside for a short while if necessary to wait for correct Meta XR to arrive.
