Im pretty new to reality capture, so excuse the ignorant question…
I’m experiencing a strange problem, I have a model of a large mine, which is somewhat trapezoidal in shape. Everything has come out well in the interior, but if I zoom out, there is this weird low poly mesh which has been created surrounding my model. Any thoughts as to what this is and why it has happened?

Typing “mesh” and “closed” in the search bar gave me amongst others this result: Mesh not correct, surface is extended

I did learn right now that it is possible within RC - so it was already worth it to me! :lol:
Is it possible that all the other models were not closed like the example you posted?
Because it it is only, say, a corner of a room, most often RC will have the closed parts on the bottom and the back of the model, so they don’t interfere and could easily be missed…
If it has not enough information on one side of the object it expands the mesh to the bounding box on that side.
In your case it likely assumed that the surface is on the *inside* of the mesh and thus did what you see here. It expanded the mesh to the bounding box.

Great, I will look into this, thanks for your help. You are correct I think my other reconstructions were different enough for this not to happen.
