Mesh Previewer (Scene Preview Settings) - Slow + Duplicated Profiles?

It seems like every time I launch a mesh viewer, the previous settings I set for the Scene Preview Settings (which have all frills disabled because I never care about anything but responsiveness) are now in a new profile, also called “Profile”, but it isn’t being used as the active profile.

And once I delete the new active profile, I still have to toggle off-and-on-and-off all of the misc. settings to get performance reasonable again.

Oh, and I think the project antialiasing setting is getting applied in this viewport as well (and cannot be turned off), which just adds to the performance whininess i have.

Hi ,

If I understand you correctly, each time you create a new Preview Scene Setting Profile, you would like the ability to start from a profile you have already created rather from starting from scratch. This is not currently possible, but if that describes what you are asking for, I could put in a feature request for it.

As far as your second note about project antialiasing, this is not a changeable field in the Preview Scene Settings, however, you can deselect “Post Processing Enabled” which will increase rendering time in the Static Mesh preview.

Let me know if that first paragraph describes functionality you would like to see added to UE4,

.

Yeah, I guess I’d just like my profiles to persist from session to session (since they seem to fill up the list with duplicates anyway).

I may have misunderstood… You mean it’s not saving the profiles you created from session to session? I just tested it by creating profiles: Test1, Test2, and Test3 and deleting the “default” profile.

Upon restart, Test1, Test2 and Test3 were still there but “default” was back. If you are not giving your profiles original names and default is regenerating, this may be causing an issue… Is this the problem you are describing?

Hi ,

Since we have not heard back from you in a while, we are marking this post “resolved” for tracking purposes. However, if you are still having a problem with your custom profiles not persisting between sessions, please respond with the requested information and we will continue to investigate.

Thanks,

.

Apologies, I never got a notif of that last reply.

No matter what I do: if I adjust the default profile, a new profile is created and used instead on next launch. All called “default.”

Hi ,

I tested this in UE4.15 and it appears to be working correctly. In the meantime, I suggest giving each new Preview set a custom name and not trying to modify the default settings so that in the event you have made extreme changes you can to return to the original settings if need be.
