I opened RealityCapture and went to the Mesh Model tab and tried to click Mesh Model Import but it was grayed out. I logged into my account and purchased credits beforehand. It’s important to note that I’m using RealityCapture through a remote access to a school computer due to me having a Mac. It worked for me about a month ago to do a chunk of this project. I’m not sure why it won’t let me import my mesh model (specifically my .obj) and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Sorry if this is a simple fix or I’m being stupid, I’m very overwhelmed and confused. The version on the school computers are 1.2 and I can’t update it or install 1.3 (I tried to see if that was the issue).
Hi Lexissleepy,
to be able to import model into RealityCapture you need to have already created alignment in your project. It is not possible to import the model without it.
Why is this a thing? All I want to do is import an .obj file of an existing model created elsewhere. Why do I have to go thrugh a process of fake alignment? I don’t have the photos to align anyway. Seems like an uncessary RS limitation?
Hi Michael,
it is because of the general workflow of RealityScan. Like import images, align, create model, export, modify model in some 3rd part app and bring it back for texturing.
In general you don’t need the model’s images, you can use any images, which is possible to align. Then you can import any model.
