Summary
I created a set of boots for Metahuman Creator to list on the FAB marketplace. The body mask works fine with all presets and Metahuman characters and the feet geometry is hidden as intended. In the case of the 4 base starter templates (Aof4, Bof4, Cof4, Dof4) which are used to test and verify the Fab listing by Epic, the mesh hiding does not work. I was able to reproduce this locally. If I load the boot item on the base gray Metahumans, the feet are not hidden. Once I click on the “Material” tab within Metahuman Creator, the feet are hidden. This suggests that the mesh hiding system is not initialized until a base texture is present.

Steps to Reproduce
1: Open one of the base gray Metahuman Creator templates in Metahuman Creator (ie: bodyShapeAof4, Bof4 etc.)
2: Load a wardrobe item that should hide underlying geometry (such as boots which should hide the feet)
3: Feet remain visible.
4: Click the “Material” tab in Metahuman Creator.
5: Base textures appear and feet geometry is hidden.
Expected Result
Feet geometry should be hidden if body mask is present in the wardrobe item.
Observed Result
Foot geometry remains visible until you click the Material tab.
Platform
Unreal Engine 5.8.2 and Metahuman Creator.
Operating System
Windows.

Additional Notes
I’m not sure if this is intended behavior and footwear should completely cover base geometry in default state or if this is a limitation/bug. Regardless, my item will not be accepted without some sort of workaround like making the geometry encompass the default foot position.
