Hello. I work in architecture, developing rapid visualisations during the design process. I’ve been using Unreal Dataprep to walk clients through spaces, but there’s still a number of problems that need solving before I can get high quality demos out of the software.
One of my issues is mesh distance fields. Any models imported from vectorworks using dataprep - in all valid file formats - are not treated as convex by dataprep. This causes the mesh distance fields to generate hollow, or even completely permeable. I’ve attached two images below showing the issue.
Running welding, hole filling, remeshing or normal fixing does not fix my mesh in the modelling toolbar. The meshes appear to be convex structurally, but just aren’t unless I dump them into blender first even with little to no additional changes. These demos often have to be updated with the latest designs as little as an hour before presenting, and go through hundreds of design iteration so I’m really not keen on going through any external programs, plus blender does not work well with dataprep.
Any ideas on how to fix? If I can figure out what is wrong, I can write my own procedures to fix this automatically. Thank you.
