Memory limits?

I did some research, maybe not enough, but I wonder if there is some limits to how much RAM a deployed game can use?

I have 16 GB of RAM and I know that 8 or more is getting much more common. But still so many games, even 64-bit games, uses no more than 3-4 GB of RAM. Even with SSD it should be a lot less loading time with allocating more data in the memory than constantly exchanging with the hard drive.

So, is there a limit in any way right now, and if so, can it be changed? I would love to use 8 or even more RAM in upcoming projects to reduce loading times.
