Medium Layered Hair not appearing at all in Metahuman blueprint (seemingly not an LOD issue?)

Hey all, new here so I’ll try not to ask too many stupid questions, this one really has me stumped though. I’ve created a Metahuman with the “medium layered hair” but when I import it into UE 5.3 it doesn’t show on the character. I’ve had success with other models with LOD 0 and 1 hair assets (including another character in this same project) by forcing the LOD but that didn’t work here.

Digging further into the blueprint/content browser the groom asset doesn’t show anything at all when I double click it, almost as if it’s imported as empty, and there’s no accompanying static mesh. I’m aware there’s a warning saying it’s in development so I can’t expect it to work perfectly, but I thought it would at least show up. The eyebrows are doing the same thing on this Metahuman, thought I’m sure I’ve used the same eyebrows on another model and the force LOD method worked. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.
