Media Track out of Sync

Hey all,

I’m poking around with using the media track in sequencer with an .mp4 (ue4 constantly crashes with a png or exr sequence) but it gets out of sync when I render from sequencer instead of recording every frame. I thought media track was supposed to fix this long standing issue.

Any thoughts?

The synchronized playback in sequencer for the media track only works for sequences of images - which unfortunately sounds like it crashes for you. Any callstack for the image sequences?

that makes sense.

maybe ue4 doesn’t like png sequences with the media track?

Probably related - I’m using an 800 x 800 png sequence - it’s not crashing, but it’s not in sync, with the media texture appearing quite jerky compared to the rendered sequence.

It should work fine for pngs. I just tried jpgs and exrs as well. Also, check that the img media source has a matching frame rate value as your sequence.

Does the sequence scrub properly in editor? Is it just out of sync when you render a movie?

Ah thanks! Yes - the framerate was the issue. What does ‘NaN s’ mean?

Might be handy to have a ‘sync frames’ option on the media track in the sequencer - I imagine most people using the media track would find that handy…

Well, I’m not exactly sure what I did differently but I have it working with 1024x1024 PNG with an alpha.

@Max Chen - is there any way to have a tracking matte combined with footage in sequencer to take out the background? PNGs with alpha seems a little heavy and I’m wondering if a png sequence with the content and then another with a black/white tracking matte might be less computationally intense.

I know in the composure example there are mattes in sequencer but I need could get them to work outside of that project. There isn’t a lot of documentation for these sorts of more video/animation related things.
