Hi! I use the UEFN MCP server (MVVMToolset) and Python to build UMG screens, and almost everything works great - widgets, fields, property bindings. But there is one thing I still have to do by hand every time: adding a Condition or an Event that plays an animation.
What I want to do from MCP / Python:
- Add a Condition binding: Source field + operator + value (for example “ShowPopup >= 1”) → call Queue Play Animation (or Play Animation) with the animation picked.
- Add a View Event on a widget’s own button: OnButtonClicked / OnButtonHighlight → Queue Play Animation(MyAnim), where the destination is the widget itself.
What happens now:
- MVVMToolset.CreateViewEventBinding does not accept the widget itself as the destination (None is refused, the blueprint is “Invalid Context”).
- With Python, MVVMEditorSubsystem.add_event creates the event, but there is no way to set its SavedPins (which animation to play) or its GraphName, so the event plays nothing.
- There is no tool to create Conditions at all.
Why it matters:
A menu with 10 buttons needs 30 hover/unhover/click events plus a condition for every pop-up. Building the screen takes seconds with MCP, then wiring the animations by hand takes much longer, and it is easy to miss one.
Request:
- A MVVMToolset tool to create, read and remove Conditions (source, operator, compare value, destination function, function pins).
- Allow self as the destination in CreateViewEventBinding, with a way to set function pins such as the animation for Queue Play Animation.
- Python setters for the event/condition pins in MVVMEditorSubsystem.
Thanks!
