Maybe it’s the time to translate unreal engine 4 in Spanish and French
I understand that English is the language to speak in more countries, China by more people
But to translate into Korean before Spanish and French I do not really understand.
Yet I speak a little English but learn something in his native language it’s better …at least translate aids available, the rest is not too important
If you are a developer you have to will have to learn english anyways. I know French often really don’t like to learn other languages, but you won’t get around it. The whole documentation is in english, most youtube tutorials are etc. To be honest, if already the simple english of the UE4 Editor is too much for you you won’t get far with UE4.
Yeah the engine already has some “spanish” thrown in there. But it’s really horrible, more like google translator than a real translation dunno about korean or japanese.
The problem is that every programming language is english native (and blueprint is just a visual representation of a programming language) that’s why imho it’s better to just get used to the names in there.
Everytime i (can) update to a new version and it sets to “spanish” by default… omg my eyes bleed so i go asap to change it back to english.
The best thing you can do is just look for tutorials on your language and get used to the english terms in the engine, but that’s just my opinion on what i’d do.
Well, C++ is kind of written in ‘English’ so that’s not going to happen… I do feel for people trying to learn English though, apparently it’s one of the hardest languages to learn.
Yeah the translation is too bad and there are invented words like in other sites (encrypted = encriptado) where the true word is (encrypted = cifrado/codificado) lol and that invented words are in the google translator too and i see films translated with this words, Spain is awesome.
One of the hardest languages to learn? :eek: It’s the first time I ever read this, english is very easy to learn compared to almost all other languages. Do you know one single language which is easier to learn than english? I am German, so I can tell you german is way harder to learn, and I had to learn french and it’s also way harder, and I know people who had to learn Spanish and it’s also way harder. English is one of the or the easiest language.
Gotta say, of the three languages I know, Spanish is the easiest, Italian is easy but more difficult than Spanish, and English is the most difficult. Luckily I use English more than the others in my everyday so remembering it will never be an issue for me It’s just all the silent letters, strange dipthongs, homonyms, irregulars and other junk that makes learning English as a secondary language super foreign.
I’m also a native Spaniard but i learned English and Spanish simultaneously. I wonder what about our experiences with the language is so different that we think so differently
You mean Google translate? It’s useless in all languages beyond single nouns, haha
I’m native from Spain, and the English is way simple than Spanish:
Cat = gato / gata
The = el, la, lo, los, las
the list of verbs are way large than English.
Silent letters, strange diphthongs, homonyms, irregulars this is too in Spanish, accentuation (árbol)…
and more things…
Probably @Meguido say about search in the browser if English is more difficult than Spanish or Spanish than English (And Google say Spanish over English)
There’s almost nothing in Spanish like “Bologna” or “Colonel” as we pronounce those words in English. The pronunciations don’t make any sense at all Every Spanish word can be successfully pronounced by anyone who knows what each letter sounds like with no difficulty. Sure, we have verbs like “ir” that go off the deep end in irregularity and gendering to worry about, but at least for someone who speaks neither English or Spanish, learning how to speak Spanish aloud is a much easier time than learning to speak English aloud.
I would not say the easiness to learn a language has much to do with how easy it is to pronounce the words, but more with grammar and vocabulary. Correctly pronouncing words comes from alone after some time without much thinking.
I think the whole argument about languages is a bit artificial.
There is a good reason why certain communities have their de-facto “standard language”.
For electronics and computer related suject matters it is mainly English. The same language as in science. You wont get very far in science, because not every paper you need to read will be available in your native language. Ok, it is English, in the past, it used to be Latin, or Sanskrit.
You spwak Spanish. Ok, lets say you have the editor in Spanish. In what language would you talk about it to another developer from somewhere else? Should he learn Spanish?
There was en effort a while ago to make everyone in Europe speak German, which they did not take too kindly :o
And we can be happy that Engish got established as dominant science/tech language (at least in the western world).
It has the most simple grammar you can imagine. Only one gender, lot less irregular and more “universal” verbs like “to get”. You can split infinitives an noone cares.
It has a really logic composition of tenses “I am, I have been, I was, I had been, I had had been”.
In German, you have three articles (male, femal, neutral) and verbs are much more irregular.
Also, English texts are usually much shorter than other languages. The German edition of a standard textbook usually has 25% more pages with the same print format than the english original.
Well, not really, For example, I wouldnt know how I should pronounce words like “Hacienda” or “Asunción” correctly… Is it an “S” sound where you have to bite your tongue like “Barsffsfelona”?

Im happy with EU4 being available in English. (Most German translations would be too verbose anyway to fit into the UI )
That’s dialect though, you can pronounce all s sounds similarly without issue. How does “enough” have an f sound while “though” does not? In Spanish, all pronunciations follow the same rules with no real deviation. English mostly sticks to the book, but some words do whatever they wants with no regard for said rules That’s what’s particularly tough for non-English speakers. My girlfriend is teaching English in Colombia and tells me that’s the greatest sticking point - the dissonance between spelling and pronunciation. It looks like it should be said one way, but it’s not. It sounds like it should be spelled this way, but it’s not.
Weird. For me, I am usually always right when I guessingly pronounce I workd I havent heard before. Only on rare occasions, Im wrong.
Altough I started learning English very early (by myself) and my initial vocubulary was somehow identical with the Commodore Basic instruction set.
So I could POKE my buddy to let me PEEK into his homework and RUN to SAVE me from the teacher…

The only English words where Im still unsure (because everyone I meet pronounces them differently), are stuff like: “coercion”. Or, what is the word for the opposite of “Improvement”?
