Long story short I am trying to figure out how to my own animation for the FPS section of a game. In UE4 I am using the base hands skeleton to control the hands of the player. Attached to these is a weapon model. I use Maya to create an animation that includes both the hands and arms but whenever I try to export the animations (separate for gun and hands) to UE4, they either come in broken or not at all. Does anyone have knowledge on how to do this? I have dug and dug but the only tutorials use static weapons. I aim for my guns bolt to kick back when fired, not to mention reload animations.
