Is there a guide somewhere to properly setup maya to model static meshes/characters?
I know Blender has a similar tutorial but we are switching to Maya and I am curious as to the scaling with it.

There is nothing special going on with the scale⦠1cm = 1UU.
If you are going to use the default UE4 character height for reference then you can make a box about 192cm tall in maya and use that for scale reference.
