MAYA Rigging Tools creation for animation error

In Maya 2015 64 bit student version.

I made a rig that is pretty much defaults except that I shaped the geo to look like a gal.
I made thumbs have two joints, not three.
I chose the skin geo for prototyping option as I don’t have a mesh to bind.

There were errors during control rig creation but I didn’t check what they were. The Student Version warning kept popping up during the process too.

Then when I load the rig from file it opens apparently fine, but there’s the error shown in the image:
Error: Line 1: The specified procedure could not be found. (Mayatomr)

NB: I edited the ART_skeletonBuilder_UI.py file so all the UI windows have sizeable = True

Also, is it normal for the right limbs to be sort of reversed surfaces?
