May Sales Slump

Earlier this year I started a fab store to sell Metahuman garments and had a really good initial response with several items selling quickly after publishing. The second month my sales grew massively with near daily sales of content and a peak day of 8 sales. I was really inspired to see the growth and kept publishing hitting 40 products early this month. However in May my sales have completely nosedived. This is despite the largest catalogue I have ever had, improving products, great customer interactions and a great review. Is anyone else experiencing a slump like this? It’s very confusing. Surely there’s a relatively consistent demand for certain types of products? but well established repeat sellers haven’t moved once this month but sold 3 times in one day last. Anyone else had a similar experience where it feels like the algorithm put you in a box or is there a general slow down this month. Eager to hear from other sellers.

You’re definitively not alone in this situation. Here for example a discussion about this problem that affects a lot of us Fab sellers https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/does-the-new-fab-publisher-cabinet-shows-recent-sales/2721565

Eager to find the post if I can as trying to understand the situation.
I’m not going to stop publishing but its hard not to question the effort I’m putting in when it’s so inconsistent in the results.
I get that some months are better than others as I’ve been selling on other platforms for years but a 75% drop off in sales from one to the next doesn’t happen without a reason and like I said I have more products, good reviews coming in and improved presentation.
Very weird.

The other post is in the forum where only Fab sellers have access, the “Publisher Hub”. As a seller, you should have access too, however you’re not the first seller that I heard not having that access.
Write to Fab support and ask them to add you to it.

Can’t say I’m having a great month. More like average to just below average. Last month though, because of the Spring Sale, I had my best month ever, and I’ve been on the FAB/Unreal Marketplace for many years now. All that said, here are some things you can check. Make sure you have the latest version of Unreal checked, which is 5.7. Pretty sure those have some priority. Another thing to check is to make sure your product is in the correct category. Epic adds new categories from time to time, when they seem to be needed. If they add a category and you don’t realize it, then people are going to miss your products because yours are in a more general category, with a sea of other products, instead of the limited products that are in the extended category. I hope this helps. You should also regularly look up your own products on FAB, to see if you can find them and where they are placed in the list. Most of mine, if you search for any keyword I use, are in the top 5 or so products.

Thanks buddy, that makes a lot of sense. as last month was my first with a relatively full catalogue it might be that I underestimated the effect the spring sale can have on moving units.
I am new to selling on fab and only started a few months ago and April was the first month with a decent amount of content available and my first experience of the spring sale so I guess this was a big factor.

Welcome to the platform!!! Keep doing what you are doing! Releasing new products is 1 of the best ways to stay relevant, as it’s 1 of the few ways to be seen by people just browsing.
