MaxPlay game engine

More competition, cool stuff, good to have engine’s being built from the ground up for multi-core.

Single-feature comparison videos though, yawn.

Is there a game concept that could compromise on everything except that it absolutely positively has to have 10,000 dynamic lights (that, I’m assuming, don’t cast shadows and aren’t PBR)?

Never heard of it but the more competition the better. Is it web-based?

I highly doubt it.

They already fired half their staff; engine selling is no fun business it seems.

Sounds like they are pressed for money.

with unity and unreal engine as competitor I think it hard to newcomer play in this market.
I don’t know why, I guess its not because the tech, it is just about community. Even high class engine like Cryengine must works hard to stay safe in this competition.

the good way to stay safe is with money, when the community is still growing, the dev must have lot money to save their employee. and the dev must have high passion especially when community growing slow.
and of course with good management and well community support is really good way too.

maxplay, Ah, so these were the guys who had fired half their staff,
Oh yes, I had them in my layoff list.

I drive a hyundai elantra. It’s really nice and I like it lots.

But if lamborghinis were free, I wouldn’t be humming and haahing between the elantra and the lamborghini, I’d take the lambo.

I think there’s something in that for all of us

I hope we’ll see any decent game made with this…

They’ve basically gone bust and shut down, so not likely.

Now I’m sad… The more competitors, the better the engines!

They were not competitors though.

They were just comparing their unfinished “engine” with fully functional engines, and it was just unjust, claiming those engines working with low performance without showing how they have achieved such bad performance on them.

You don’t fight against lions if you are a cub.

From what I read again… They fired almost everyone, not just half of them.
Around 70 people lost their jobs, some got hired by Amazon to work on Lumberyard.

Amazon must have some crazy plans in the works

I have Lumberyard at home, but I don’t use it for anything.
I think it is better than CryEngine though.

How so?

10charslimit

For online games it has a lot of prebuilt features that are difficult to add on both UE4 and CryEngine…
I also have the impression they work a lot more on stability then CryTek does for the CryEngine5 that I also have installed here.

Lumberyard will fall back in engine updates though. I think it already has.

I like how it sounds being out of context.
