Hello. After searching about textures,MIPs and how to improve my texture performance, i can’t really know about this question.
I have two PCs, desktop and laptop, and i’m developing my own game. I use a repository for working whenever wherever and keep uploading my commits into a common project. In the laptop, i can’t reach the “Epic” scalability level settings and in the desktop i can reach even the “Cinematic” one without a problem. The issue is that i want the maximum texture size possible for each device meanwhile i can carry on editing and playing on my laptop with a low texture resolution.
My final question is, If i have a megascans surface 8K texture, do i need to leave it in 8K or can i set the maximum texture size for example in 2K “only” for low-end devices so i can start with 2K and not 8K and the MIPping into lower resolutions would be nicer for my laptop.
