Mathew81 - Waterfront Cities Sunset to Night: lakes, harbours & neon rivers - UE5 + Unity

▶ See the pack in Unreal Engine 5 (4K): https://youtu.be/DPKnLt49Qjw

Ten levels, ten evenings. Open one, press Play, and the sky does the lighting.

Each Unreal Engine 5 level in this pack sits under a different waterfront sky, from a low sun over a still lake to a river lined with lit towers after dark. The panoramas are 8192 × 4096 and stored as true HDR: street lamps, signs and office windows carry values up to 24, so they light the scene and flash in reflections instead of printing as flat pixels.

✦ THE EVENINGS, ONE BY ONE

  • Sun going down - Still Lake Sunset (calm water, peach to blue), Lighthouse Bay Sunset (black silhouettes on a coral sky), Golden Sunrays Bay (a sun disc and a fan of rays)

  • After the sun - Violet Bay Blue Hour (purple sky, mountain, harbour lights), Downtown Overcast Dusk (rooftop view under heavy clouds), Misty Harbour Marina (teal fog, glass towers)

  • Lights on - Golden Lakefront Promenade (park lamps), Twin Supertall Riverside (towers on both banks), Neon Tower River (a magenta tower, coloured reflections), Riverwalk Canyon Night (office blocks and street lamps)

✦ WHAT YOU GET IN UNREAL ENGINE 5

  • 10 TextureCube assets - HDR compressed, 2048 px faces (4 × 2048 = 8192 around the horizon)

  • 10 example levels - one per sky, each with an HDRI Backdrop, a Post Process Volume on manual exposure and a Player Start facing the skyline

  • Your own level - drop in an HDRI Backdrop, pick one of the cubes, set Projection Center to your camera height; or feed the cube to a Sky Light for lighting and reflections only

  • Exposure - compensation 0 matches the previews; lower it by 2 and the sky darkens while the city lights keep shining

✦ ALSO IN THE LISTING

  • Unity package - 10 HDR cubemaps, 10 skybox materials, a demo scene and HDRP Volume Profiles (Built-in, URP and HDRP)

  • Source files - every sky as .hdr, 16-bit .exr and 8K .png, for any other tool

✦ GOOD TO KNOW

  • Requirements - Unreal Engine 5.4 and above (the HDRI Backdrop plugin ships with the engine and is enabled in the project); Unity 2022.3 and above for the Unity package

  • Light range - rebuilt from the image's light sources, not from bracketed camera shots; great for highlights, not a measured light probe

  • Looking down - some skies are softer straight down than at the horizon

  • No dependencies - no third-party plugins, no code
