I have a question. My primary tool is Revit, and I'm transferring the project to TM. As we all know, Revit using own materials or is created by the user. I'm doing the 2nd option. When I'm transferring the model to TM, I need to apply the same materials in TM, one by one. This takes me sometimes hours to do. Do there exist some ways to speed up this process? Each Revit model using the same materials, will be much faster if I have some saved material list in TM. That can be applied to the Revit model, and the project could be finished with a few mouse clicks. OMG, that will save my life.
Thank you for posting in the community regarding the best workflow with working with materials.
I recommend when importing your Revit project to use the Datasmith Exporter plugin with Collapse by Material so that things are grouped based on the materials. Once that is done you can apply/adjust the material as needed, save custom materials in the user library so you can reapply quickly if needed.
Once you know what material should be what in Twinmotion you can establish a substitution table and load it as part of the import process when making other options. Here is the link to the Substitution table article:
It takes me some time to create a file in Revit with all materials. Now I want to create a material list in TM. I open the material substitution CSV file and export all libraries, and I don't know how to do it.
Do you have some tools or step by step how to create my material substitution list?
I know you guys are busy but I think you doing a great job. Can I ask you for info on how to create a Substitution table? some step by step. that will be great.
