Material texture panner with a pause/delay?

Is there anyway to add a pause or delay to the panner node in the material editor? I have a material panning in the way i’d like, but it would be nice to have some sort of random delay so its not just repeating constantly. Would some sort of if-chain or use of the clamp node work? I havent had any luck hunting through the nodes and i would like to avoid using a blueprint/timeline if possible.

thanks, that gave me some good ideas. got some interesting results mixing some of what they did with a few other nodes, but i still cant seem to get a good random delay in the pan. most of what they did on that page is now built into the panner node too
