Hey there!
I’m kind off a beginner with materials therefore I wanted to ask if anyone knows what’s going on here & if there’s a solution for this problem:
Is that a custom material ?
Yep, it is!
Do you mind posting a pic of your material settings ?
Hello Treqy,
This might be Z-fighting. Check to see if you have more than 1 mesh in that location.
I think it’s more likely that this involves lighting/shadows. (Looking at the red icon on the far right, it is only flickering where lit.)
In addition to anything ‘nonstandard’ in the material, let us know what changes you made to Time of Day / Lighting.
Hey, thanks for your response!
I’m pretty sure it’s a lighting/shadows issue, because there are some times of day where those materials work perfectly fine, but on the other times they absolutely don’t work great.
I basically didn’t changed anything about the Time Of Day or Lightning, so it’s just the regular Fortnite Time of Day cycle
I suggest making a blank map and making a whole bunch of materials with different settings, launch a session and see if any work.
Some ideas…
Open up your texture and check the sRGB switch is off.
Maybe your texture sample should only output the alpha channel, add a solid colour into the Base Color
Plug the G channel into the mask instead of the A
World Position Offset could be causing the issue from the XY scale, its affects are additive, so maybe that why time of day effects it.
Thanks for that @realTreqy
The ‘Sprite’ material function is probably the cause. (Handy node, I did not know it existed!)
Were you applying that material to a geometric shape other than a plane?
Actually not, but maybe I should try that!
