so i am having an issue in the material editor material preview mesh is dark in one side not all side is lit and this is not a material problem please help me i cant preview my material properly
If you head on over to the top left section you can change the view and mode. Perhaps you have turned off auto exposure. It can be turned on if you press the button with the three horizontal lines.
auto Exposure option is checked but still half portion of mesh is dark cant see anything
Hey there @Joyy! Welcome back to the community! This is probably the first time I’ve seen such harsh light on the material preview without exposure being at fault! It usually takes main lighting from a direction, (which is definitely there) and fill lighting from I believe the HDRI. If you reenable the background on it, does it lighten at all?
No enabling background is not fixing the issue , but i can change the direction of the light pressing ctrl+l , and this issue is not only in material editor ,also exist in other places like mesh preview windows
here the front of the character is lit but back side is dark
What are you engine settings? You might have too low settings for the result you’d normally see on other screenshots?
I was going to suggest playing a bit with the engine scalability so see if the lower end could be cutting out the other light that usually handles the fill lighting.
Does this only occur for this project?
You can go to preview scene settings as shown above and update any profile or create new settings profile with the values I’ve used in this image. Also change the exposure settings ( Post processing → Lens → Exposure ) to manual and compensation to 10.
It’s not a bug but a feature for us to create different light conditions for testing purposes. Hope this helps someone.
