The material editor does not have feature parity with the blueprint editor FOR YEARS now, and just like UMG, I thought it was abandoned, until 5.6/5.7 introduced some much needed changes in the right direction.
The Convert Node
I was very excited about the new convert node, it is amazing BUT it also feels very rushed and half baked, it feels like it was made and nobody cared to test it for real ![]()
It actually made parts of my workflow worse. The node has 2 presets, one break and one make, and both use different naming conventions??? Is it float? is it vector? Find out
Ok, this is very minor. The real problem is below, the node doesn’t show up at all in the search box when dragging a new connection, you have to manually add it outside and then connect the node and this is extremely ANNOYING ![]()
before, we had at least the break and make MFs and they showed up
