It’s about as close as you can get I think. In blender, make a sphere and chop off slightly more than half:

The in the UV editor, view from above and choose:

hemisphere

Or even better, just view from above and choose ‘unwrap’, duh…

If you want an entire sphere the only way is a “football” (aka “soccer ball”) pattern, where some of the shapes are pentagons.

The reason is that an all-hexagons tiling is flat, and nothing you do can bend it without distortion - but pentagons can be added to pinch it in at points to give a sphere.

The easiest way would be to find a football/soccer ball texture and paint over it.

Note that when flattened to a texture it will look distorted but it’s an anti-distortion of a sphere so it cancels out when applied to a sphere
