I recently published my creative island ‘Escape Wick’ and it only allows players to join on random occasions. The majority of the time I get Matchmaking Error (#1) but at rare times it works fine. (This happens when attempting to join both public and private matches, alone and in a party).
I was having the same issue last night.
How many teams do you have on your islandsettings?
I read you cannot have more than 16 teams, or it might bug.
So currently testing this on my island. Do you have more than 16 teams?
Is this still happening on your island?
Do you know the demographics for the error, like region, platform and time of day?
Could you get us a log after this happens to you?

Hi @PledgedRanger , we are running into exactly same issues.
We have noticed that when we have 5 players in our map, no one else can join anymore.
The matchmaking algorithm is trying to fill this specific ‘instance’ with 5 players, but everyone gets the connection issue.
When we do a private lobby, it works, but once we hit 5 players, it doesnt anymore and completely breaks all matchmaking for that region.
Can you please let me know if you have similar issues? Are you able to play with < 5 players?
Can you also kindly share your island settings, e.g. the Max Players, Teams, Teams Size.
