Ashplume is not the one who leads the charge, nor the one who seeks glory in battle. While the others carry flint blades and stolen axes, Ashplume carries tools, wires, and strange devices no one else fully understands. Tactical goggles rest across his beak-like face, always smudged with dust and ash from his experiments.
Among the flock, Ashplume is known as the one who improves things. Broken weapons return to his hands and come back sharper. Traps appear where none were before. Even the strange gear some of the mutants wear was first shaped on Ashplume’s workbench.
No one remembers exactly where he learned such craft. Some say he once wandered near the ruins of an ancient machine-city. Others whisper that Ashplume listens to the echoes of forgotten technology buried beneath the forest soil.
