hi , i play my level in a New Editor Window(PIE) from anywhere else i get like 90-100 fps, but when i do the same when i was in the Animation Blueprint tab the fps drop to 30. is this normal ?
ps: i tried to play the game in different Animation Bluerprint tab and i get different fps.
Hey there @chinccw! How complex is your AnimBP? If there’s a massive amount of node swapping rapidly this kind of drop wouldn’t be too uncommon. If your states are also evaluating lots of things constantly it can also cost performance to a solid degree.
hi, thx for the reply. my animbp is pretty simple, it is just the default ue5 mannequin animbp (retargeted to different character). i have tried to disconnect the connection to output pose but the result is the same, so i think the complexity is not the issue here.
so i am guessing it is normal that i have lower fps when play from animbp tab? because i assumed it’s the same i play from any tab since i dont really see any difference.
Ahhh did a bit of digging and it looks like the framerate in the viewport gets cut in half due to the animation BP viewport is running a full fledged viewport of it’s own. It’s a bit different than the materials viewport in this case. You can check that (without glancing at the source) by starting the game and printing to the screen, it sends it to both viewports.
