I have a new product ready for release, but I want to release with support for 4.22, 4.23, and 4.24. Do I submit them all at once? Or do I submit 4.22 first, then once approved submit the other two versions? I read the guidelines, but it wasn’t completely clear. Thanks.
That depends on if your product is content only or a plugin. If it’s a Plugin then you need to submit a Project Version for every Engine Version you want to support. If it’s a Content only project (like an Asset Pack with some Props or Environments ect.) then you can submit one Version for multiple Engine Versions. But you should make sure your Product is working with every Engine Version you want to support.
This is also mentioned in the guidelines. Marketplace Guidelines - Unreal Engine
My product is an asset pack. So you are saying I can upload the 4.24 version only. And just put that it supports 4.22, and 4.23 as well. Instead of uploading 3 files for each version of UE4?
You only have to submit the earliest version you have, only if you needed to fix something in a newer version you’ll need to upload that one for that specific version.
if you submit 4.24, it won’t be backwards compatible, but if you submit a 4.16 version (and doesn’t need fixes) it’ll be upwards compatible without any issue.
Exactly. Sorry for not clarifying that better.
Ah my goodness. So i have been uploading new versions of my previous product for no reason whatsoever…oh my. Thank you sooo much for all your help!
Then why does is require a file update every time a new version comes out? So I guess from now on I can just check to make sure the new version works. And just change what it supports. Wow. Thanks!
