Hello folks! Over the years I’ve accumulated a good deal of marketplace assets, either via the free monthly stuff or humble bundle and other sales. I’m starting to finally get into game creation and was wondering what my limits with these assets are. For example, I want to use some of the seamless textures from one of the environment kits I’ve collected, maybe make some edits and use them on either my own assets or other assets from other marketplace items. In this situation, am I ok to take these textures, edit them and use them how I see fit, or must they be used as provided? From my research it seems I’m ok to use them however, but to be safe I wanted to check with people more knowledgeable than myself and a 15 minute internet search. Thanks in advance for the response.
Hi, yes you can mix and edit the assets as you want when making a game in Unreal Engine - you just can’t sell your own assets using parts of any existing assets.
Ok perfect. That’s basically what my own research led to, but with how complicated terms and conditions can be, I wanted to have outside confirmation. Thank you for the quick response.
