When playing a game like Mario Odyssey, I notice that whenever Mario jumps, the camera still follows him on the X and Y planes, but the camera stays stationary on the vertical Z axis. I find that it makes jumping and platforming more fluid, and makes it a lot easier to land on a desired platform.
I’ve been struggling for a while now, trying to implement a similar camera system into my game. I’ve been searching online and trying different things, but I just can’t seem to figure it out. My hopes are to stop the camera movement on the Z axis, delay for maybe a second or so, and then ease it back into place.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
