Map loading errors

When I saved my level in engine 4.10.2, I logged back on only to find my computer saying that my level couldn’t load because I was using a more recent version of the editor to create it. Problem is, I’m using the most recent version. I REALLY spent a lot of time on that level. Is there any way to get it back?

Hi ,

  • Does this occur in a clean, blank project with no additional content or is it limited to one project? For instance, if you move the map to another project, are you able to open it?
  • What steps do you take to reproduce this on your end?
  • Did you edit the map in the 4.11 preview at any point?

I didn’t use 4.11, it is only happening in one of my projects, I haven’t tried migrating the file (I will soon) and I don’t know what you mean by reproduce. Do you mean my blueprints, or perhaps copying the file?

What I mean is what were the steps you took to open your map. Did you open it through the Content Browser or did you use the File>Open Level path?

It is my default level and i also tried opening it with the content browser.

Wait no I used file open level. Sorry

Ok, try taking the .umap file out of your Contents Folder and moving it to a new project. To do this, you can navigate to your \Unreal Projects\PROJECTNAME\content\ folder and find the file location of the .umap in question. Copy this and paste it into a new projects content filepath. Open the new project and try to open the file using the same method. Does it open or does it continue giving you errors?

I´ll try it! thanks so much!

Hi ,

Have you tried the suggestion above? Does the error still occur in the new project?
