Many assets look just as block

Many assets I downloaded from Quixel Bridge show just as block as you can see the screenshot below:
Unreal

Plus, since I updated UE 5.0.3, Quixel Bridge doesn’t work properly. It showed well in 5.0.2, but it doesn’t pop up after several mins used. It works fine if I re-launch it, but it doesn’t last so long. Is there a way to downgrade?

You can select all of them and do a right click. That will load the preview. Depending on the amount and size of the assets, that can take a while.

Oh, it works! Thx so much!

I just found that it happens every time I launch it. Is there a solution to make it permanently?

UE saves that in temporary memory. It’s actually quite handy, otherwise your ram would be full all the time.

Yeah. UE doesn’t display these assets to save memory, so they don’t have to be loaded in memory while they are not in use. This is especially helpful to prevent running out of memory in larger projects with lots of assets.

That being said, I do believe there should be a better system for caching thumbnails so that it at least displays static image of last known asset state rather than the brick

This issue only happens though, with assets that have an ‘unusual’ route into the editor. It also happens with kitbash3d stuff, for instance. And that’s a five minutes wait to reload all mesh previews every time. Pain the tushie…

Yeah, it only shows previews if models that are more or less in the memory right? Kitbash3D stuff comes with enormous 4k pngs. I kinda get why it takes so long to load.

Yes, but lots of packs from marketplace use 4k, and always have previews. I don’t get how they are built.

Aha, it makes sense. Thx!

I agree with you. Thumbnails don’t need to be animated.
