Mandatory | SciFi animated Short | Unreal Engine 5

Here’s my latest UE5 shortfilm, MANDATORY. It’s about a reclusive remote worker keeping a secret from his company.

This is my first 2.5 minutes short with an actual story which relies on character performance. I did something similar in the past but it was more abstract, so this one was quite of a challenge, but i think it turned out well.

With this one i have learned a lot more about the scriptwiring process and how to optimise my workflows in UE, so that i don’t spend ages working on the same project. Still, this took nearly 3 months (on and off). My hope is to halve that time and produce stories like this one more frequently.

I have used a mixture of Lumen and Raytracing in UE5.3.4 and Metahuman tech.

Well, I definitely think he took “remote” as a challenge. I honestly respect the commitment. The dialogue and music are especially charming and do such a great job at subtle storytelling. Really impressive!

Also, “NOPE” might go down as the best one liner I’ve ever seen. :grin:
