I need to make a squash/pumpkin vine from scratch and would like to do so with the impressive two sided foliage shading that is new to UE5.1 enabled. Any tips on how to build the model to allow for this would be much appreciated. I have not tried to model foliage before. I am relatively proficient in Blender and UE. Any advice or links to tutorials would be much appreciated.
The two sided foliage is mostly used when you have planes / cards of foliage. If you have a plane it will only showcase the UVs on one side of the mesh unless you enable Two Sided material for backface culling. So all in all, you can create the model as you always have and then enable Two Sided in the material.
To enable Two Sided materials, simply open the material you will apply to the mesh and tick the Two Sided checkbox.
Best of luck!
Thanks Elias. That helped. I also found this great tutorial for making leaves.
Here is what I have.
I aim to add these leaves to a custom pumpkin vine model in order to make something similar to this. Any advice on where to start would be much appreciated.
Looks cool! Best of luck with the project!
Thanks. For those looking to do the same, I found the following resources that should be useful for achieving this:
