A new tool I’ve been working on to take a simple texture (and normal where appropriate) and create all different kinds of decals. I have created this as I can never find the decals I need online but have access to plenty of great textures. I also wanted it to be as lightweight as possible for game dev.
Hi there @HappyKat100,
Hope you’re doing well.
This is both crazy cool and kind of gross The paint puddles and wall patches are absolutely perfect. The only issue I could see coming up is the drip lines would not appear on the floor but would on the walls, is there any way to choose between those?
Thanks for the comment @PresumptivePanda! Oh, yeah the driplines on the blood on the floor wouldn’t be what I’d use. I’d use a different mask, but I wanted to show the same mask slightly wet/recent (on the wall) vs wet, so to show the differences I kept the same mask. Here’s a quick swap out of the mask to something else more fitting. I actually kept the same normal map and just altered the tiling parameters as I like the thick blobs that look more realistic… and totally gross! lol
Greetings @HappyKat100 !
As the old adage says, “if you want something done right, do it yourself”! Thank you for sharing your WIP tool with the community! The reflections look very natural with the various wet textures. This is a really great gritty, grunge texture pack! The only texture missing is old, peeling paint or old peeling wallpaper.
Do you have any screenshots of your decals being used within a project? We’d love to see them!
Happy New Year!
Thanks for the kind words! I like the challenge of old pealing wallpaper - that should be super easy with this tool. It’s not a texture pack, it’s a dynamic tool that can let you drop in a couple of textures i.e. a pealing wallpaper texture and with a few parameter tweaks it’ll give a nice realistic effect. Nothing to show in a personal project yet, but will be sure to! Happy new year!
You’re most welcome! Thank you for the clarity, @HappyKat100 . That was my oversight. I apologize.
Eagerly looking forward to what you bring next, and thank you for being willing!
