Making a spectator button with features

Hello everyone,

I have been using UEFN since about a week now and am trying to start making my oiwn maps, staring with simple 1v1s. But I have a problem I need help with making a verse and setting it up for a spectator button, with these requirements: Able to switch between the people you are spectating, able to see the name of the person your spectating and able to ’ respawn’ in the map again to play yourself. I have come a bit but never was able to see the name or be able to switch and the respawn would be under my map which isn’ t ideal ofcourse. Can someone help me set this up or help me get a ready verse for this and then help me or sent me to a video which explains it really good? I would appreciate it a lot.

Hello there @GXBZW_1v1_map!

Welcome to the community, and you are already tackling a major challenge. Setting up an spectator mode from scratch would be quite an ordeal in UEFN. I would suggest to use Fortnite’s built-in features instead, as a base. There’s already a system in place that shows the name of the player you’re watching, and also lets you switch between players. Start from there, and use Verse to add the parts that you need.

First, in your “Island Settings”, look for the settings that control what happens when a player is eliminated and can’t respawn. Set eliminated players to spectate, and enable “Allow Spectating Other Teams”, so they can watch players on any team in your 1v1.

Next, to setup the spectate button, you can use a “Class Designer” device to create a “Spectator” class, with a spawn limit, so players in that class go into spectate mode when eliminated instead of respawning. Then, use a “Class Selector” device, triggered by your button, to switch the player to that class. Once setup, an eliminated player should be moved to spectate mode.

Finally, to allow a rejoin, you can switch them back to your normal player class, and respawn them. Make sure there are spawn pads where you want players to return, and check that they’re set for the right team and class.
