Just thought of something reading your last reply in the vote post.
Using the capture item spawner could be a workaround, depending on how many limited items you are using, hopefully the device can handle having over 100 of them.
Should be able to use any item in them, they have spare ammo option too if the item is a weapon.
I don’t think they would disappear in a mutator zone, being not a standard item
and they have the added benefit of staying in the game if a player disconnects.
I’m not sure if the have any vfx active on the holding players though
