Make ONLY weapons delete when dropped by players

Why wouldn’t epic push an update that lets you specify which category of items to be deleted when dropped in the mutator zone? I mean lol

Anyway, I’m working on a multiplayer, collect items type of game and I want it to be so that when players drop their weapons under any circumstance, it disappears but when the Items being collected (gold coin, eggs, etc) are dropped, they stay so others can pick them up.

I don’t know verse but If anyone has a code or a device workaround for this it would really help.

Theres a lot to do, its up to us to identify what needs doing

Repost in feedback and requests and lets get some votes on it to highlight it as a priority

There are a few options in the item remover device, but looking closer, its not quite what you want.

Your suggestion is awesome, I can’t think of a way to achieve it with devices.

I’ve tried everything I can think of really. If only they made the mutator zone device have options like the Item remover device or provided more options for dropped items in the island settings, this would’ve been easily possible.
I only just started looking into verse so I really don’t know how to figure that out yet!

They probably didn’t think of this scenario but I’ve posted this on requests and feedback like you suggested earlier.

Just thought of something reading your last reply in the vote post.

Using the capture item spawner could be a workaround, depending on how many limited items you are using, hopefully the device can handle having over 100 of them.
Should be able to use any item in them, they have spare ammo option too if the item is a weapon.
I don’t think they would disappear in a mutator zone, being not a standard item
and they have the added benefit of staying in the game if a player disconnects.

I’m not sure if the have any vfx active on the holding players though

The capture item spawner is exactly what I’m currently using for the objective item(Dino eggs) but it disappears in a mutator zone when dropped.

I tried a workaround where I used the capture Item spawner to grant weapons (Although it doesn’t even serve my purpose because weapons can’t be respawned) but out of curiosity I tried binding it to the item remover to “remove” weapons “on item dropped” but to my surprise it didn’t even work.

I settled for a workaround using the item remover and the elimination manager to remove only weapons on eliminated while also allowing the player to leave the egg behind but still I can’t think of anything to make only weapons disappear if the player drops it from inventory that won’t also affect the eggs If the player decides to drop that too.

Thats disappointing, I didn’t expect it to be affected by a mutator zone, if I ever do a capture the flag I’ll have to remember to remember this, a bit inconvenient…

Does it remove the item from the game or respawn it in its spawner ?

Oh I just tested again and it turns out it actually respawn the objective item back to the capture Item spawner once it is removed by a mutator zone. But If it’s a regular item spawner, the item is removed completely from the game.

It’d still be nice to be able to specify items that shouldn’t be affected by the mutator zone, so an objective item can remain exactly where it is dropped to avoid the risk of confusing players or worse, return back to a location players are unable to get back to, but it helps to know that the capture item spawner ensure items don’t leave the game.
