Maintain plant substitutions from Vectorworks model

I'm using the Datasmith Direct Link Tool (Auto Sync) in Vectorworks 2023 (sp3) to sync a model in Vectorworks to Twinmotion (2023.1.0). In Twinmotion, I have used Replace Object to replace the Vectorworks plant objects (trees) with Twinmotion objects (also trees). These replacements are maintained when I save, quit, and then reopen the Twinmotion file. However, when I quit and reopen the Vectorworks file and reestablish the Twinmotion sync and then quit and reopen the Twinmotion file, the object replacements revert back to the original Vectorworks objects.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? How can I prevent the replaced objects from reverting back to the original objects? Is there a setting that would prevent this from happening?

I appreciate any help.

Hello ,

Thank you for posting in the community your question and issue with object replacement. I believe this cold be due to a limitation with how this feature works with Direct Link but would need to investigate further the behavior.

As a workaround, I recommend to separate those replaced elements in your 3D views. Then only import those using udatasmith file and using the Keep hierarchy Collapse method at import. Only update them as they move and redo the replace object if necessary. It should not automatically revert back unless Reimport deleted elements or Reset Properties/Transform on selection was selected?

Hello Vincent,

I'm sorry for not replying to your response sooner, I was out of the office on holiday. Next week, I plan to upload the Twinmotion file and CAD file for you to see the behavior.
