Macwelshman - Monté Carlo Casino & Opera House

Building Information

This is the iconic Casino de Monté Carlo and Salle Garnier Opera House building in Monaco.

The first gaming room opened its doors in 1856 and several extensions have been added since 1898. The real gem of the Casino de Monte-Carlo is the Salle Garnier Opera House, inaugurated in 1879 and built by Charles Garnier, the architect who designed the Paris Opera House. Recently restored, the Salle Garnier is one of Monaco's masterpieces showing the extravagance and audacity characterising the construction of the Casino de Monte-Carlo.

The actual building is built into the hillside and therefore the Opera House entrance, Lecture Room 'boutique' and Casino entrance are higher up than the Opera House.
