On my new 27" Retina iMac, the Unreal editor has a consistent problem with selecting menu items and buttons where there is more than one row. It selects the row above where my mouse is, and cannot be made to select the bottom row. The examples I ran into before giving up were not being able to select the field where you name your project, in the project preferences editor having to select the starting scene below the one I actually wanted, and not being able to access the bottom row of starting assets when creating a scene.
The specs for my iMac are:
macOS 10.12.1
Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015
4GHz Intel Core i7
32GB DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB
This problem has occurred with UE 4.14 and 4.13. I have not used earlier versions of UE, but I saw a similar comment mentioned about 2 years ago on the page for bug UE-11320.

When you are working in UE4, is the window full screen or tabbed? Please try alternating between the two and see if you get a different result. Also, under Finder>System Preferences>Display: Is it set to Default for display or scaled? If scaled, please set it to default for display and see if this resolves the issue.

It appears that in macOS , UE just suppots zoomed and unzoomed via the top left green button or the Window option. Alternating between being fully zoomed in and not made no difference. I also tried getting rid of the system dock and zooming, but it still made no difference. I checked the display in system preferences, and it is set to Default, not scaled.
BTW, the bottom row buttons do appear to be clicked on for a fraction of a second, but then the focus shifts to the next row up, and the higher button is the one acted on. (Same as reported with bug UE-11320.) I tested this by attempting to place starter content from the bottom row into a scene. So as to continue learning UE, I am currently running it on my old PC, and it works perfectly there.

We are still investigating this issue for Macs but since I am not able to reproduce the problem, can you provide precise step by step instructions ion how to reproduce the issue on our end and provide screen shoots?

However, if you would like us to continue investigating this issue for Macs, please respond with the requested information. For now, we are marking this as “resolved” for now but will continue to look into this if you can provide some repro steps as none were provided for the aforementioned bug: UE-11320.

Sorry that I haven’t gotten back to you. I’ve been slammed with seasonal work, and won’t have time for a proper response till later in the week. My plan is to capture a video so that you guys can see the steps and the way the item selection jumps from where the cursor is to the row above it in various places. Maybe actually seeing that in action will trigger an idea for someone. I honestly don’t think a screen shot and steps alone would be that much help, because this problem is so pervasive in the software that it must not be happening with the Macs you are using to test with.

Thank you for posting the video demonstrating the issue in detail. We were not able to recreate this on our iMacs or other Macs. We did notice at 2:44 when selecting the map drop down that their appeared to be a gray dotted line box moving upward in the selection area, as if the up arrow is consistently being pushed.
We do not know what would cause this behavior but here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:
- Unplug any other peripherals beside the mouse and keyboard and restart the iMac; retest UE4.14
- Unplug and re-plug mouse and keyboard; retest UE4.14
- Do you have an a typical mouse (ie. Bluetooth, Magic Mouse, third party mouse, etc. ?)
- If none of the above resolve the issue, please provide the following Logs:
The UE4.log (Located: ~/Library/Logs/Unreal Engine/Editor/)
The ProjectName.log (Located: ~/Library/Logs/Unreal Engine/ProjectNameEditor/)

Found the culprit! I had forgotten that I had a Logitech G13 peripheral plugged in. The problem seems to be a conflict with the Logitech device driver, as plugging the G13 in caused the problem to reappear as it loaded the drivers, and unplugging did not change anything till I rebooted. I’ve had problems with Logitech device drivers in the past causing conflicts, so I’m kicking myself for not having thought of it. However, this also fixes UE-11320, so that’s one less unresolved bug for you guys. Thanks for your help tracking this down!
